CARMEN CAÑADAS | Almuñecar, Granada, 1957

Carmen Cañadas’ work reminds us of the caravaggio naturalism. Her masterful use of the chiaroscuro shows us how emphasizes the constrasts in the illuminated zones above neutral backgrounds which got lost in darkness and where there are no sense of spaces. In contrast, highlight in an almost violent form, hands, fabrics, lateral spotlights which have an impact to surfaces exalting volumes. (Carlos Quintana)
